Caviro Extra, thanks to its Alcohol division, is a market leader in Italy for the production of alcohol.
With its exclusively agricultural formulations, it is able to meet the requirements of all sectors that use ethyl alcohol – pharmaceutical, agri-food, industrial – and, at the same time, through the development of bioethanol for energy uses, it offers a natural alternative to power bio-stoves, bio-fireplaces or as a fuel for the transport sector.
The quality of Caviro Extra alcohol, which is 100% bio-based, derives from its vinous origin, linked to Gruppo Caviro’s wine-making industry – the largest in Italy – to which cereals and sugars are added.
The production capacity of alcohol at the Faenza plant is of over 90 million litres in various distillation facilities. In addition, there is a modern facility for molecular sieve dehydration.
As well as a wine-aging storehouse for spirits, there is a denaturing facility (inline) for ethyl alcohol and an R&D division is available to clients to assess feasibility studies for personalized solutions and special recipes.
Caviro Extra also owns a coastal warehouse at the port of Ravenna, equipped for the loading and unloading of ships and trains.
The fermentation and distillation of alcohol is an ancient technique and there are many sectors in which Caviro Extra’s alcohol can be used, depending on the alcohol by volume (ABV) and purity. These are the main sectors:
Neutral alcohol (min. 96°), being of agricultural origin, is used for alcoholic beverages, flavourings, essences, but also for baking alcoholates, acidification and food preservation.
The chemical molecule of ethyl alcohol, in compliance with the European Pharmacopoeia, is used both as an excipient, and as a denaturant, solvent and etherifier.
COSMETICS and PARAPHARMACEUTICALS
Ethyl alcohol is used, after special denaturing, in the preparation of various products such as perfumes, hair lacquer, mouth washes, and generic cosmetics.
Ethyl alcohol is an excellent solvent for grease, resins, esters, organic substances, varnishes for the preparation of inks, including edible inks and, in general, for all the applications in which the product is a reagent or solvent.
Denatured alcohol, with its classic pink colour, is of common usage in domestic detergents.
Bioethanol can be used as a natural heating fuel for bio-stoves bio-fireplaces or as a fuel for the transport sector by direct blending with petrol.
